Singapore’s dream pop band Sobs does exactly this and delivers the perfect antidote to an existential life. Escapism has never sounded so sweet.

Telltale Signs comes off the back of the Singaporean outfit’s debut EP, Catflap, where songs like “Girls” ignited an instant love affair with the band. Perhaps with something to prove on the back of their EP, the indie band far exceed it with stunning arrangements and observant songwriting. Telltale Signs begins with a moment alone with Autumn on “Vacation”, where a humble drum machine loops quietly before bursting with unexpected energy to showcase the band’s new, fuller sound, a magnificent step up from their previous recorded efforts. Even more prodigious on this LP, the 3-piece undertook the recording process themselves.
What’s immediately striking is Autumn’s uplifting vocals, ever saccharine as she scathes through an impatient distress in tracks like “All Poison”; “I’m checking off the boxes on ways I could fix myself / Dreams of life so hollow but it sells / Don’t get up too close to the fire you’re starting to melt”.
